Resources in 'Human Rights Defenders'

Adopted by General Assembly resolution 53/144 of 9 December 1998, this is a UN Declaration on the Right and Responsibility of Individuals, Groups and Organs of Society to Promote and Protect Universally Recognized Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

This report provides guidance on how human rights defenders can be consulted in the development of NAPs and how their rights can be addressed through national policies on business and human rights.

This Fact Sheet has been prepared with the aim of supporting human rights defenders in their invaluable work.

This handbook aims to provide human rights defenders (HRDs) with an overview of the existing legal and policy framework and emerging global norms adopted by both governments and businesses to protect human rights in the context of business operations.

The purpose of these Guidelines is to provide practical suggestions for enhancing EU action in relation to this issue.
