Multi-Stakeholder Statement CSRD and EU Standards

Civil society, investors and asset managers have published a multi-stakeholder statement “Why we need to get improved corporate sustainability data by 2024” calling policy-makers for swift agreement on the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive reform and supporting accompanying EU standards.

The statement highlights the importance and urgency of the reform to achieve the objectives set in the EU Green Deal and the sustainable finance agenda. Furthermore, the 12 signatories of the statement who represent key users of corporate sustainability information, firmly support the development and implementation of EU corporate sustainability reporting standards based on the double materiality concept (while also calling for the EU’s leadership to promote the consideration of impact globally).

The statement includes a third aspect to ensure adequate public funding to support the standard-setting work and the importance to guarantee the viability and transparency of the process.
